Yemi Adeyi has been with us for 5 years. When she came to the United States from Nigeria 8 years ago, her original goal was to become a Registered Nurse. However, the waiting list at LA Trade Tech was so long that she would not get in for another 2 years. Meanwhile, she decided to go to Culinary School at LATTC.
As fate would have it, Yemi fell in love with the culinary arts! She had already been cooking her entire life (and still cooks for church gatherings). At LATCC, she took baking courses and learned about American cooking styles while also studying restaurant management.
While at school, a chef/mentor recommended that Yemi join Culinary Staffing Service as a student cook. Five years later, she says she has learned more working for Culinary Staffing -by traveling to different venues as a dishwasher and student cook - than she did at culinary school!
Today Yemi keeps a busy schedule and we keep her in great jobs. She works regularly as a cook in addition to working for one of our hospital clients, helping to deliver Covid tests to the lab.
In her spare time, Yemi is still first and foremost a cook. She’s very passionate about cooking for people, so you will find her in a kitchen somewhere most of the time! Her favorite Nigerian dish is Jollof, which is a one-pot rice dish popular in many West African countries, including Nigeria.
Congratulations, Yemi! We hope everyone gets to try your fantastic culinary creations!
